Greetings, We had notice that Bad.Trans is getting through our iMail 6.06/Declude/F-Prot scanning engine. To resolve we manually upgraded our F-Prot DOS engine to 3.11 and expanded the new AV def files. A tech copied those new files into the working Declude folder.
We began getting application popup errors indicating failure of the DLLs related to smtp32.exe, ntvdm.exe, comnctl32. About 40 instances of ntvdm.exe now run, and about 20-30 declude.exe processes. Messages back up in the queue and then services begin degrading. Webmail users lose ability to send. Ipswitch support said it is (1) virus or (2)an MS issue. 3 virus scans show none on the system folder. Nor in the iMail executable dir. Probably have some infected mail in the user folders. MS, says it is not an OS issue. We can disable iMail services and the errors do not appear. After re-installing SP6a and IE 6.0, the errors have decreased significantly, but not completely. We also now get an occasional iMail.exe error. I have also stopped all services, moved the 1000 mess. in the spool to a backup dir and restarted the services. Same result. Ipswitch recommends re-installing the os. MS does not. They suggest reinstalling iMail and declude. This box has about 100 domains, nt 4.0, sp6a, imail 6.06, f-prot 3.11. Anyone have any clues?
