to add to Scott's recommendation of files to exclude from the viruscan I would exclude the imail\users directories as well, considering that those directories should only have the email box 's in them along with any rules or the basic stuff, scanning those files would be a waste of time and resources considering that any sent/rcvd email would be scanned before it was placed in those boxes, thereby scanning them again with the same program would result in absolutely nothing. I at one time, did a complete scan on my users directories under imail and when i did that, all of the scannning of the incoming/outgoing mail started getting errors of the type, "scan did not complete in the allotted time" and i do recall a setting for Declude saying something like 30 seconds to scan a file or something like that, so i figure the resources were just being used up not giving enough resources to scan the actual incoming/outgoing mail.

Declude / McAfee is a good choice, I use it. However I chose it for the name and the fact that it had a couple minor advantages at the time. I bought it through a reseller and it cost 5 times what it was supposed to because of a change in retailing by McAfee. I would recommend you go with FPROT since the minor advantages have been caught up with them and the price is *significantly* cheaper. I just purchased IMail ... opted for basic package without AV. Double the money made no sense to me at the time. Now that I've joined this list, I'm happy to see my decision was a good one. I'm interested in a Declude / McAfee solution. I've used McAfee on home computer and have been quite happy with it. But, I need information on specifically which McAfee product to purchase to have it work with Declude. And, I'd like to have the McAfee product also provide AV protection for the rest of my Win2000 server (700 mhz - 512 RAM), as well. PS. I know enough about server set-up to manage - that's it. I'm mostly the person who decides what to purchase. So, please reply with basic technical language. Thanks so much.
