That should work, if you use the proper IMail proprietary format for those
files.

The first comment is that the file formats are proprietary, and could
change from one version to the next.
That being out of the way, the D*.SMD file is just the E-mail itself
(headers followed by a blank line and the body, just as it is sent). The
Q*.SMD file contains much of the SMTP envelope information (the return
address, actual recipients, and so forth). It's pretty easy to figure out
how the file should look, and I don't believe it's changed at all between
recent releases.
