OK, I have never used SMTP auth before because I have never needed to. My mail server is Imail 6.06 and SQL DB. I use only one domain on it and it is the primary domain(SQL). It has an IP. I can't get SMTP Auth to work. The mail client says it couldn't find a compatible authentication mechanism and I do not see any attempt in the mail logs.(I tried Outlook as well) ::
