>I can not deliver to AOL either, but my problem may be different.
It looks like there are two problems. First, you don't have a reverse DNS entry (or if you do, it can't be confirmed). http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/ptr.ch?ip=147.72.93.36 shows that your reverse DNS is delegated to dns.pit.tcimet.net, but that server is not reachable. AOL seems to accept mail from servers without a reverse DNS entry, then silently dump the mail. >I have my smtp security set to allow relay, AOL has always before sent a >message once a day that they do not condone the relaying of bulk mail. >recently I started getting this message > >Trying aol.com (0) >Connect aol.com [205.188.158.25:25] (1) >550-The information presently available to AOL indicates that your server >550-is open to the free relaying of e-mail, and is being used to retransmit >550-unsolicited bulk e-mail to AOL. Based on AOL's Unsolicited Bulk E-mail >550-policy at http://www.aol.com/info/bulkemail.html, AOL cannot accept >550-further e-mail transactions from your server until that server is >550-closed to free relaying. For additional information, please visit >550 http://postmaster.info.aol.com. The 550 response is illegal there (only a 220, 421, or 554 code is allowed; they should be using the 554 per RFC2821), but it's clear what they mean. You ain't allowed there. >If anyone knows how to satisfy AOL's policy, AND allow my users to send >mail outside my network. I would greatly appreciate the help. To satisfy AOL's policy, you must NOT be an open relay. Since (according to AOL) you've already had a spammer hijack your server and send junkmail to AOL, they are likely going to make very sure that you close your relay before accepting your mail. To not be an open relay, you can either use IMail's "Relay for addresses" (in which case you would enter a list of "safe" IP addresses that your users may come from; anyone not coming from those safe IPs would need to use SMTP AUTH), or "No mail relay" (which really means that everyone must use SMTP AUTH). Note that relay setting apply only to outgoing E-mail, so no matter what your settings are, your users will still be able to get mail. -Scott --- Declude: Anti-virus, Anti-spam and Anti-hijacking solutions for IMail. http://www.declude.com --- [This E-mail was scanned for viruses by Declude Virus (http://www.declude.com)] Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html to be removed from this list.
