> We've probably all read and/or heard about the 12 minute idle timeout on
Web messaging and the fact that this limit is hard-coded.
My question is this: Is this hard-coded in binary code or HTML code? And
if it's in HTML code, where is it and can it in fact be altered?

Alan,

That's hard-coded in the iwebmsg binary, so there's no changing it (unless
you want to find the characters "12" with a hex editor and change them to
something else - J/K everyone, please don't do that).

Our Killer templates, being frame based, easily get around the 12 minute
session timeout by keeping a hidden frame refreshing, unbeknownst to the
user. The refreshing code checks the server for new msgs every X minutes
(5 is the default), and updates the counters next to the folder names on
the left (like Outlook). Then we have a config that lets you time them out
after X minutes of inactivity... the default is 60. When a user pops open
a new message composition window, the timer is automatically reset, so
they should never get the dreaded lost composition effect when taking too
long to compose the perfect email.
