During our current development work, we have come across the issue precisely described by the Knowledge Base article at <http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-20010411-DM03.htm>

NT users can only access their accounts appropriately after they have received an e-mail.

Our most significant (but perhaps obvious) reproducible find is that manually creating the folder IMail\users\joebloggs for the joebloggs NT user does allow the user to achieve a mailbox lock without having received any e-mail to their account.

Is this likely to be a permissions issue (ie does IMail attempt and fail to create a IMail\users\joebloggs directory at its first attempt to lock the mailbox)? If so, is there a known reason why IMail is able to create the directory happily when it receives an initial e-mail, but not before?

Can anybody suggest any workarounds other than manually creating appropriate directories or sending users e-mails before they first check their accounts?

If you experience this problem how do you work around it?

Thanks

Steve
