Hi everybody, I am trying to use IMail Server v7.0 for email mailing lists. The problem I've ran into is that if a message is posted to a list in a multi-part format the customizable header/trailer doesn't get appended to the message by IMail Server and the message is posted as is. As with any mailing list headers/trailers are crucial, because they allow to include unsubscription instructions for the list. As I understand messages are sent as multi-part in the following cases:
* MIME encoding is used and a message is in HTML or Rich Text (as supported by some email clients) format * MIME encoding is used and a message has an attachment Messages sent with UUEncode go through just fine (headers/trailers get appended), with and without attachment, plain text and HTML. The problem is that most email clients default to MIME encoding and HTML/Rich Text. This is the case with MS Outlook which we use here. Some ways of working around this issue could be: * Train posters to use plain text only and no attachments. Then hope that they follow the rules every time. * Send periodical automated messages to each list letting users know how to unsub. * Create Web-based user interface through which users can post messages to the list in order to ensure that each message is posted as plain text. Disallow email posts. None of these look appealing to me, so I was wondering if you have ran into this issue and know of any fix for this. I've talked to Ipswitch's technical support and they acknowledged the problem on the latest version of IMail (I believe v7.03 at the time). They indicated that they'll work on it, but I am not going to hold my breath. Thank you Maksim Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html to be removed from this list.
