Our web messaging used to stop quite often when we were using version 5.4. I found that it would always have a message stuck in the spool directory that would never get out.
When I examined the stuck message I found that it would always be an email with a virus. Web messaging would always fail right after that email got into the spool directory and would continue to fail after a few hours if that file was still there. When I deleted the spool directory contents, Web Messaging would work fine until another file got "stuck". This year we updated to 7.x and added Declude. I haven't seen the problem since. Web Messaging defintely still leaks memory with 7.x. I stop just the web service every week or so and then restart it. The server will run well over 1200 hours before I will re-boot it just for the heck of it. We run 7.03 I think. We haven't upgraded to the latest 'cause I don't like Hot Fixes unless absolutely necessary. About 1200 boxes on a P2-350 with 9 to 10k emails per day. And we are soooo pleased with Declude.. :)) It's VERY interesting to me that we almost never have any leftover files in our spool directory. We used to see several every day. Now we only get our log files and maybe 2 or 3 .tmp files. ~JP~ ----- Original Message ----- From: "discuss" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, February 14, 2002 4:52 AM Subject: [IMail Forum] 5am, Rebooting server.
