Try stopping services first.

Since web messaging attachments hit the spool file unencoded, and this one
had a virus, it was detected and locked.

It's not IMail that locked the file, most likely the AV software did
("F-Stop" or "RealTime Protector"). You may have to resort to rebooting to
get the file unlocked.
