We started in 1999 with IMAIL 5 & SQL 7 (600 users), now we have over 90000 accounts (IMAIL 7 & SQL 2K), having them on a DB make it easy to manage. While we can loose some performance in authenticating phases, it is worth when performing maintenance over accounts, more we can have accounts automatically added by a web subscription procedure. Currently we use a mixed solution with MDB & SQL. Our choise is to have few domains with large number of mailboxes in SQL, while most of small domains (2-20 mailboxes) in an MDB wich is a little faster, but less secure.
