Although I've tried the KB and the forum archives, I was not
smart enough to find a reference to a log problem we've been having. We
have an IMail 7.06 install; and I am, admittedly, a newbie where IMail is
concerned.
Each time IMail receives a message for an invalid user, something spawns
a process that results in 512 "invalid user" error messages in
which the original sender is both sender and recipient. The error message
expected as a result of the original "invalid" recipient is
written also. It's always 1+512. If there are three invalid recipients on
a multiple addressee message, then it's 3+1536, etc. The condition exists
despite stopping/starting services, reboots, etc.
I'm experiencing about 10K multi-line errors per hour. The log files,of
course, are all but unmanageable. Following is an extract from the sys
file. I have captured the traffic to/from the mail host and verified that
the mail host only receives the single, original email. Virus scans of
the mail host reveal nothing.
Direct replies are more than welcome. I don't wish my inexperience to
adversely affect the forum. Thanks in advance for any
suggestions/insight. Apologies if the solution is obvious to everyone but
me.
