If your going to commit to making these changes on webmail, you should consider an alternative such as KillerWebMail templates from HKSI. You should first compare your list of required features to KWM, then estimate how long it would take you to modify the stock templates vs. KWM to meet your needs. Then multiply that estimate by the value of your time. I think you'll find that KWM is substantially cheaper, even if you need to make changes to KWM.
Don't fall into the developer trap of thinking that because you can do it yourself, that you should do it yourself!! Every developer has a value that can be applied to his/her time and the decision should be based on the total cost of accomplishing the goal. The imail.pdf manual in your top IMail directory has some instructions, and the tags are referenced in Tags.doc (which comes with the stock templates). Good luck! (You'll be making the same changes in many dozens of places.) If you start feeling overwhelmed, consider starting with a 3rd-party set of templates that has been designed from the ground up to be customized.
