There were many changes in the web templates with version 7.0x. The changes we had made in version 6.02 did not carry over, and others have stated so as well.
If you are going to upgrade, do not spend time on customizing the pages until after you upgrade, or at least get the new templates first and work on those, then they will be ready to use when you do upgrade.
