It works for us here at twu.ca. The NetGeo does not seem to work for any .ca
domains though.
It also seems that .ca domains are penalized for some reason with the DNS
timing option which gives our twu.ca domain a D- and my own morning-star.ca
domain gets an F. For our Imail server at agape.twu.ca it punishes us with
an added overhead of 273 ms and give the following point deductions:
-------------------------------------------------
Domain Type Class TTL Answer twu.ca. NS IN 86400 pico.bc.tac.net. twu.ca. NS
IN 86400 twuns.twu.ca. twuns.twu.ca. A IN 86400 64.114.134.2
Looking up at pico.bc.tac.net.... [Had to look up A record for
pico.bc.tac.net; assume +200ms]...Reports 1 MX record(s). 387ms.
Looking up at twuns.twu.ca.... Reports 1 MX record(s). 187ms.
Average of all 2 nameservers: 287ms (plus 236ms overhead).
Score: D-
Took off 8 points for ".ca" TLD (extra lookups likely will be necessary to
find the root servers).
Took off 6 points for having no glue at pico.bc.tac.net [adds 2 extra
packets to lookup].
Took off 2 points since pico.bc.tac.net allows recursive lookups (if lots of
people are using the server, it can slow down).
Took off 2 points since twuns.twu.ca allows recursive lookups (if lots of
people are using the server, it can slow down).
Took off 20 points for >200ms average response time.
Note: The 236ms overhead is the time it takes to get your NS records from
the root servers, and indicates a worst-case scenario (normally, the
resolving DNS server would have the common root server entries cached, and
would know the root server(s) that were responding most quickly). The best
times since the last time this web server was last restarted are: 62ms
average response, plus 123ms overhead.
-----------------------------------------------
And for ns1.morning-star.ca:
-----------------------------------------------
Score: F
Took off 8 points for ".ca" TLD (extra lookups likely will be necessary to
find the root servers). Took off 2 points since ns1.morning-star.ca allows
recursive lookups (if lots of people are using the server, it can slow
down). Took off 15 points for a nameserver timeout at ns2.morning-star.ca
(causes lengthy delays and extra packets). Took off 2 points since
ns2.morning-star.ca allows recursive lookups (if lots of people are using
the server, it can slow down). Took off 25 points for >700ms average
response time.
-----------------------------------------------
As you can see, we are penalized 8 points for having a .ca domain. My
ns2.mmorning-star DNS timing error I understand since I am having an issue
with my provider which is causing this problem, but I still got an F when
things were working.
