That's only about an hour's worth of email. :)) >Nothing else on the box except Imail Server. I don't know if this can be done, but I know you can increase the number of Imail SMTP processes from default, (see the KB), so maybe reducing the number of SMTP processes to some small number will will choke SMTP sending down enough. try 2 or 3 SMTP and send the 40K msgs. if too slow, increase to 5 or 6 and repeat. Figure that an smtp process will take an average 15 seconds to send a deliverable message, or 4 per minute per SMTP process, 250 per hour. 4 processes would be 1000 msgs per hour. These are very rough figures. of course, your other mail would also be throttled.
