The usual suspects: somebody has started sending badly formatted msgs that's zombi-ing the SMTP processes. move all imail/spool to imail/spool/save and see if sending goes fast. nightmarishly fragmented disk that causes SMTP processes to zombie on as they poop out trying to traverse the NTFS file table that is nutz, and 1000's of mailbox files each in 10,000 fragments. nightmarishly huge mailboxes, 500 mb, 1 gb, that SMTP processes zombie on as they try to get to the End of It All, which is worsened by preceding item. Fragmented dynamic swap file intermixed with your mailbox tree.
