I'm having the very same issue... that's why i was trying to use an external
database for the user loggins, etc.. in hopes that it would vanish.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Web messaging error: Page cannot be displayed

Hi,

We've been using Imail for many, many years with little problem.
Recently, we've had more than our share of grief.

Our current situation is that we're running Imail 6.06 (patched) on a
Win2k pro box. We actually have two servers with this setup. We tried
moving up to Imail v7, but our mailboxes started corrupting, so we
backed down to 6.06.

What's happening is that when people use web messaging, often the web
page will not display. Instead, an error comes up saying the page
cannot be found. This seems to happen randomly. Sometimes this happens
at the main web messaging login page, sometimes it happens when they
click the "next page" or "previous page" button. Most often, it happens
when they try to delete mail. Usually when this happens, the customer
cannot click the refresh button or back button and return to their
proocess. Usually, at best, the customer has to login again in order to
continue. Regardless, it's happening frequently enough that our
customers are beyond frustration. The problem seems to materialize more
often for dial-up customers than for people on our LAN (it's hard for us
to reproduce on our machines, but happens a lot of some of our dial-up
customers' computers). Everything else in Imail seems to work fine
(i.e. it's seems to be isolated to web messaging).

The odd thing is that it's reproducible on both Imail boxes we use.
Just for the heck of it, we got an email account at one of our
competitors that happens to be running the same version of Imail on a
Win2k pro box. We were able to reproduce the same errors. So, it's not
just on our boxes.

We've tried reinstalling Imail without the patches, with the patches...
One of our SysAdmins has tried installing Imail on 3 different boxes we
have and the problem is still occurring. FINALLY, one of the SysAdmins
installed 6.06 on an NT4 box and the problem vanished.

We don't want to downgrade our Imail boxes to NT4, but we have to solve
this problem soon.

Has anybody else experienced this? We've been able to reproduce it on
at least 5 of our boxes and on one of our competitor's boxes, so I don't
think the problem is isolated to us. We'd like to keep Imail running on
Win2k if at all possible. We'd just go ahead and upgrade to v7 of Imail
hoping the problem might be fixed, but we've tried that twice (once when
v7 came out and again when the first HF came out) and both times (on
both boxes) it started fine but it began corrupting users' mailboxes
within a few hours. This happened on both of our servers.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks,

Lance
