I did a google search for Distinct, and Catalyst, and found a couple of
sites that looked like they might be what you are referring too.  However, I
never did find anything that looked like it contained an LDAP Active X
control, or anything I could use.   Do you happen to have any contact
information for something you would suggest?

Block TCP 389 (I hope you already are).

Don't  write  your  own  component.  Not worth it. Use one of the many
TCP/IP  component  suites out there (Distinct, Catalyst, et al.)--most
have LDAP support built-in.
