This  would  be most people's gut reaction, but it's actually not true
for  Imail.  The BindToIP feature, which I believe was just fixed with
7.06HF2,  has  an  associated  effect  (as  Neil  pointed  out)  which
counteracts the expected routing behavior:

Neil,  my questions would be (a) does the machine you're connecting to
have a route back to the external network, and (b) is routing actually
enabled  on  your server? The latter question, while usually not worth
asking, may well pinpoint your problem.
