We have had success with using older US Robotics external courier modems. Use com1 or com2 only. Internal "Software" or "Winmodems" will never work! And I am sure the same will apply to USB modems too. You can get the Courier modems on Ebay for $10-20. I am told the old Zyxel external modems work also.
