This is quite common, and called a "Joe Job" among anti-spam 
fanatics.  Probably 90+% or so of all spam that is sent uses fake return 
addresses.  When the spammer's mail bounces, it has to go somewhere.

This is something else that the program we are working on can help detect 
(although in most cases nothing can be done about this problem).
