the big i/o consumers are 1) logging/queueing to spool/, and 2) mailboxes so put those two on separate caching SCSI controllers. partitions: ** OS + proggies ** system swap ** spool/ ** mailboxes Complement that with : ** frequent defragging of spool/ and mailbox partitions ** frequent removal of stale/old files in spool/ ** define/enforce reasonable limits on mailbox sizes.
