That sounds great Len, the IMGate Machine, but doesn't it require a
Unix/Linux box to run on?  Meaning I'd have to install yet another 'box'
just to control spam?  I'd estimate that about 50-60% of all inbound mail to
our domains is unwanted mail (sporn - spam & porn).

That's EXACTLY the desktop approach taken by TMDA, tagged message delivery
agent.  The desktop user must whitelist every single sender or domain, else
rejected.  ie, "100% moderated" mail reception.

Meta Group doesn't seem to get out and about very much, claiming SPAM
levels of just 10%.

ime, the IMGate machines I install and admin get between 20% and 50% reject
rates.
