bad move, RAID5 is slower on writing than RAID1.   RAID5 is great for 
databases which are 90+% read, but mail is closer to 50/50 read/write.

there's part of your problem, fix it.

no, your are most likely disk i/o bound, not CPU.

Big mailboxes + badly fragmented partitions are causes.

put spool, mailbox, and system swap on different partitions.
