Hi all, New to the list. Got a problem I haven't been able to find a solution to so far. Hope someone can help.
Running Imail Server 7.05 on a network behind a D-Link DI-704 firewall box. So far everything has been fine but I'm now trying to restrict the number of open outgoing ports through the Access Control functionality on the firewall. For most of the systems on the network what I've done seems to be fine but if I include the server running Imail, it can no longer communicate with the outside world i.e. our external users can't connect via POP3 or SMTP or through the Webmessaging interface. We only have the POP3D32, SMTPD32, IWEBMSG and SYSLOGD services running. Can anyone tell me what outgoing ports I need to leave open for the system to work correctly? Currently I've tried the obvious ones - 25,80,110,8383 and 53 for DNS but with only that selection open, nothing outside the firewall can communicate with the server. If I leave all ports open, everything works fine but I'd like to tighten the security as much as possible.
