Have you tried searching the SMTP log file (usually SYS####.txt) for their 
E-mail address, to see if a delivery attempt was made?

For example, if you send an E-mail directly to a Hotmail account, it may be 
delivered -- but if you send it from a mailing list, it may be delivered 
into the user's "JunkMail" folder (since their address doesn't appear in 
the To: header).  The IMail log file would show that it was delivered to 
the remote mailserver (and therefore the problem lies on the remote end).
