I'm a bit late on this thread, but...I've been running IMail for 3 weeks now on a Dell PEdge 1650 using GB NICs w/ZERO CPU or speed problems.

I think it would have happened with any of the 7.x versions. Like I mentioned several times, my production server is 7.13 on a 3 year old NT4 Dell server and smokes. So does a 2000/AD test server running on an old PC. Just this really fast new Dell server running 2000 and AD that has issues with IMail. An update: I haven't done much lately...get a couple servers hacked and normal production just seems to grind to a halt. :-( I *did* run FileMon from sysinternals.com and tried logging into Webmail. I saw an incredible amount of disk activity where it seemed to open every folder and read every message individually. That is, if I had 1000 messages in a folder, it would open, read, and close that file 1000 times! Then do all the other folders. All this just at login! Jeesh. Considering this, I thought it might be possible that there might be some disk I/O issues. I went to load the RAID controller software (maybe read ahead caching would help?) and found it reporting that I didn't have access. Since I was logged in as the domain admin, I thought it odd. I'm currently working this out with Dell support. Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for the 3C905C that I ordered so that I can continue the troubleshooting with IpSwitch who think it's a network problem. I'll keep everyone posted. --Todd. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Bruner" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, October 15, 2002 7:28 AM Subject: RE: Re[2]: [IMail Forum] IMail SLOW after moving to 2000/AD server > So, would you guys say that it would be best "not" to upgrade to 7.13 and > wait for feed-back on the next update..?? > > -Jim > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:IMail_Forum-owner@;list.ipswitch.com]On Behalf Of Todd Ryan > Sent: Tuesday, October 15, 2002 5:40 AM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: Re[2]: [IMail Forum] IMail SLOW after moving to 2000/AD > server > > > Burzin, > > Thanks for the reply.
