Andrey, We had the same problem that plagued us for months.....
check your page file size on the server...our server admin had this set to "0" thinking it would force IMail to use declude's queue system, but of course I discovered that it doesn;t work that way - so when he left a few months back, we were left trying to figure out why everything was slow - SMTP, webmail, POP connections - you name it. Correcting this was a major factor in resolving that issue.
