We've noticed a few messages that have become stuck in our spool
directory.

The messages are for valid users, they do not exceed any size
constraints, and just seem to be stuck. Meanwhile the users are still
receiving other messages directed to them from the same spool directory.

What could be causing this?
Which files are you seeing there, the D*.* (actual E-mail files) or Q*.* files (the IMail routing information files) or both?

If you just see a D*.* file with no matching Q*.* file, it normally indicates a "double bounce" (where IMail couldn't deliver the E-mail, and couldn't bounce it either). However, if the E-mail is for an account that exists on the server, there shouldn't be double bounces.
