Hi - I seem to have files in the spooler eating all my CPU.
What makes you think that?

Did you use Task Manager, and click the "CPU" button when viewing the list of processes, to see what processes were using all the CPU time?

WHile looking at the files I noticed several type.

what is a "*.gse, *.SMD, etc.
http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-19980508-DM03.htm explains the different extensions.

To solve the problem I just deleated them all, but is there any way to
isolate which files are causing the problems?
Ouch. You deleted all your incoming E-mail to "fix" the problem? If the problem was a spammer or a mail loop, there's a good chance that the problem will continue even after deleting your E-mail.

First steps to take if it happens again:

[1] See how many E-mails are in the queue, compare to the normal amount for your server
[2] If lots of E-mails in the queue, look at a few to see what they are, and determine what the problem is.

Then, you can decide what the next step is (IE isolating a specific file, blocking a spammer, etc.).
