I think it is just time to give up the ghost and get my money back on this
one.

This is what I get in event log every time I start the machine:

The server was unable to register the administration tool discovery
information. The administration tool may not be able to see this server.
The data is the error code.

This is Event ID 105. Basically, this is caused by an unplugged network
card. M$ solution? Plug something into it. This card is one of two
integrated on the MB in a location far away. I have disabled, removed, and
done everything I can think of, but this error persists since I can't plug
anything into this card.

That is the only error I get ~ UNTIL ~ I try to do a LDAP search on the web
interface then I get:

The IIS Admin Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 4
time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 1 milliseconds:
Run the configured recovery program. (EVENT ID 7031)

The World Wide Web Publishing Service service terminated unexpectedly. It
has done this 4 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 0
milliseconds: No action. (EVENT ID 7031)

The FTP Publishing Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done
this 4 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 0
milliseconds: No action. (EVENT ID 7031)

The only reference to this on M$ suggests that I may have been exposed to
code red worm. IIS had never before been installed and before it was the
system was fully patched. I ran their tool anyway ~ to no avail.
Also when you try to see the next results when trying to search their
database you get an error that you did a "null" search. They suck...

IIS SMTP was not running, I removed all IIS services that I didn't need ( I
need the FTP ) and still it crashes.
I'm at a total freaking loss...

Marc

...Also ensure that you do not have iis smtp server running on the same
port - or better yet stop then disable the service ~ actually any service
you don't need or use. Do you have any other micro$oft products like MS
Exchange2000 installed or prior installed? If you've had M$ Exchange2000
installed then removed.. chance are high that there could be dll's left
behind which would need to be manually unregistered...

I never get a response on my LDAP queries from the website. IIS seems to be
crashing and the only solution offered by Micro$oft website is to run the
code red removal tool, which I did even though I was pretty sure this
server had not been exposed.

The World Wide Web Publishing Service service terminated unexpectedly. It
has done this 10 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in
0 milliseconds: No action.

This is an excerpt from the IIS log when I try to do a query.(I think)
