But there is a cost: ime, most mail msgs get delivered in under 10 secs, ie, transiting through IMGate ( SMTPD receive/queue/SMTP send/erase ). So adding the PIX FIX delay of 10 secs to ALL IMGate/postfix deliveries is a comparatively huge hit, roughly doubling avg SMTP session length.
If you have a sleepy, low-volume postfix box, no problem, but if you have a high-volume "outbound SMTP delivery cannon", then this fix could seriously slow down each SMTP process' throughput.
I do not know whether all PIXes with SMTP fixup active require this 10 sec delay, for all messages, and all speeds of end-to-end delay. ie, the "failure" may not be on every single msg through FIX FIXUP box. Mitigated further by the fact what is the population of MX behind PIX's with SMTP fixup active vs the entire population of MX you typically send to?
