Daniel,
What we do is I went into the code for IMail and grayed out the option for our
users (virtual hosted domains) to change their mailbox size and capped it for them.
We then sell the domain setup in blocks of users with a fixed size limitation. For
example, lets say that we set our limit at 10mb per user, then we have a 15 user
package, they essential get 150mb of storage. Now, we have run into a couple of
issues where they wanted to 'shuffle' mb around to accommidate heavy users. For
example, 15 users package setup, they have 2 users that want lets say 20 mb, then we
cap that domain at 13 users and give 10mb (or a users worth) to those 2 people. Above
the norm, we charge for additional mb needed per user. This model seems to be working
well for us. The key for us was to control space, thus needing to gray out the users
ability to adjust their mailbox size. IMail 7.13 (we have), you can set in the Imail
admin a trigger that tells us (the Imail admin) and the user that their mailbox is
some percent full (i.e. 90%), thus telling them they need to delete. This works
great, because at some point a few users may see this and need more space and give us
a call, and we increase it with a fixed charge. I hope this helps give an example of
what I do. Good luck.

Keith

Subject: [IMail Forum] Quota manager for IMail directory

        Hi folks,

Currently, we sell our IMail services by total no. of users per domain. We are
        considering implementing
total domain size (eg. 500MB with unlimited users). To achieve this
technically,
it would mean that I would
need a 3rd party tool to restrict the particular domain directory to the
        subscribed size.

        a) Is there any tool for managing quota that isn't based on Windows user-base
?
        I visited "www.sunbelt-software.com"
(saw Len's recommendation in one of earlier post) but the tools for storage
        management works on Windows user
base, which I'm not using. I am using the default IMail user base (registry).

        b) How would IMail react when the over-quota warning is triggered ?

Anyone here successfully implemented quota restriction based on per domain ?

        Thanks in advance.
