100's of IMail admins think it is sufficient.I am looking for the best way of blocking viruses and spam. I've seen a suggestion of using a combination of IMGate + Declude Junkmail.Is IMGate not enough for dealing with the spam?
A lot of them were running Declude Junk and wanted to move the burden of defense from Imail to a dedicated MX machine so they installed IMGate, but kept Junkmail running. Junkmail doesn't see nearly as much traffic as before, since IMGate rejects 20% to 90% of the incoming mail, so the Imail machine has a lot less work to do.
Plus, in the IMGate-filtered traffic that Junkmail does see, there are comparatively few rejects, but what Junkmail does reject is still welcome.
I'm still waiting for Junkmail + IMGate admins to give us the reject numbers for each defense.
The IMGate and Junkmail techniques are not totally overlapping so when used in tandem (imagine them on a two-seater bicycle pedalling happily into the sunset), they reject more than one product alone. The main architectural difference is that Declude consumes mailbox server resources (most admins don't care) and IMGate liberates mailbox servers resources (a priority for many admins).
