OK Dave.... I solved the problem quite simply by using another domain name whcih I had spare which was relatively short and gave a userid and password to the user. So that when they set this up (it was actually in O/E), instead of using "The same setting as my incoming mail" they simply entered the new user id and password I had given them.
Worked straight off, no problems. They retained their Email address etc. as before.
