OK I am stumped I have a customer who insists on running his Imail system behind MS ISA Server(despite my opinion of it).
The customer is is a large company spread across the US. I currently have 3 Imail systems running as peers for their domain, they use public IPs. I am trying to add a 4th peer (the one behind the ISA server) Here's the deal. I can telnet on port 25 to both the external IP and the DNS name just fine I can send mail to it directly to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and it gets delivered to the intedended mailbox If I send it to [EMAIL PROTECTED] it goes to the primary peer here in Cleveland and then is correctly sent to azmail.example.com in Arizona. BUT it sits in the queue unable to be delivered and eventualy is kicked back to me saying: Delivery failed 20 attempts: [EMAIL PROTECTED] xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx = external IP BTW - They are also running MS DNS on the same box as Imail Everything is fine until Imail attemps to deliver the message locally. So the question is why cant Imail deliver a message for a user it knows is on the system? My guess is that it is trying to connect back to the external IP address which it believes to be itself. I have tried several different entries in the host file to no avail. Aside from the obvious comments about MS ISA Server, does anyone have any suggestions how to fix this? Is anyone else running Imail Peering behind MS ISA Server? Any help is appreciated! Have a great day!
