How to Enable SMTP Authentication in Eudora 

1. Go to Tools -> Internet Options. 
2. Select the "Sending Mail" category from the list on the left. 
Make sure the "Allow Authentication" option is checked. 
3. Click OK 
4. You may have to restart Eudora for these changes to take 
effect. 

NOTE: This fix is known to work in version 5.1 and higher of the 
Eudora desktop mail client.

p.s. number four probably should read "you absolutely have to 
restart eudora for the changes to take effect".
