Ok, so if we pick up the New SDK provided by IPSwitch, and configure our
discussion forums (lists) in web pages, that import through the digest into
the web interface, we can work it out?

But  that's  just  pointing  to  an  external web interface. As far as
that's  concerned, you could have automatic imports from a digest into
a  web  interface, and only allow a POSTERS.LST to post. Still outside
of IMail's capabilities, though.
