In my experience it is really hard to actually judge a product -
especially anything having to do with computing - from the
literature - and especially sales literature by the vendor.
Usually it takes time and experience to get a good understanding
of a product. Let's just say I am a cynic by experience.
I think Imail is still pretty competitive in a broad market range
especially now at version 8.
There is no doubt that Imail's 3rd party tools and support forum
are very positive features. Those are certainly factors I include
in my own evaluation.

Imail continues to be in my opinion more or less what it claims -
neither more nor less. That's not to say it should be used in
every situation. And that's not to say there aren't other
excellent products. But there is no free lunch.

Perhaps, but I am considerably farther right of cynical about this
statement than my vocabulary (or sense of forum propriety) allows
expression. We are a tiny shop and yet even we need more than one
mail server. Claims that a single product do it all are just
claims.
I remember a lecture I attended once where then Captain Grace
Murray Hopper spoke. She told the now famous story about the
settlers in the united states using oxen to clear the forest land.
She said that when they had a tree that was so big that one ox or
a par of oxen couldn't move it the settlers did not try to grow a
bigger ox. We only lose practical sense it seems in computing.

Well part of "true" cost is the:
1) cost of changing mail servers,
2) cost of re-educating staff and customers,
3) cost of unforeseen circumstances,
4) cost of misleading features -
and others.
JN> Please let me know what your thoughts....
There you have it. Worth little but costing less.
