'Lo everyone,

We've got a user who receives information from their bank each morning
at 10am. Since we moved them over onto one of our I-Mail servers
(previously running 7.15, now on 8), they haven't been receiving that
mail. All other mail is arriving fine, but this one mail isn't. On
checking the logs, I find that the mail is arriving at the server, but
being reported as NOTIFY=FAILURE:

06:24 10:00 SMTPD(003B0042) [213.120.81.204] EHLO
mailgate01.barclays.co.uk
06:24 10:00 SMTPD(003B0042) [213.120.81.204] MAIL
FROM:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
06:24 10:00 SMTPD(003B0042) [213.120.81.204] RCPT
TO:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> NOTIFY=FAILURE

The only information I can find from Ipswitch on this matter is in this
link:
http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-19990708-DM02.htm

That article implies that this is an issue - it explicitly states that
it's not an error - regarding read receipts. But I find it hard to
believe that a major corporation would bog down its mail server by
sending out a mailshot to who-wants-to-know how many customers,
requesting a read receipt for each one - and even if that's the case,
why isn't the user actually receiving the mails? And more importantly
from the point of view of an administrator, if it's not being bounced,
and it's not arriving in the mailbox, it (and others like it) must be
occupying storage space somewhere - so where is it?
