Hello, David,
Thanks for responding. I'm curious as to what you are alluding to here.

This is the way things are currently set up...

-
Our domain name is NEXUSTECHGROUP.COM.
NEXUSTECHGROUP.COM has an MX record setup which points to the hostname
MAIL.NEXUSTECHGROUP.COM.
MAIL.NEXUSTECHGROUP.COM in turn points to 199.218.9.36 which is the IP
address of our IMail Server.
All of the mail which comes into IMail is distributed to each user's POP3
mailboxes.
Our POP3 e-mail clients connect to the server and pick-up the e-mail for
each user.

In the above scenario we only have one (1) MX record. There is no backup
MX.

Now, this is the way I was hoping that I could set things up (until I found
out that you can't use a host name in the HOSTS file)...

We currently have an alias setup to our Exchange Server called
nexustechgroup.dnsalias.com. Every 15 minutes a VBscript on the server
coordinates with a dynamic DNS server to make sure that
nexustechgroup.dnsalias.com is pointing to the correct IP.

Now, what I was hoping to do was setup IMail Store and Forward,
http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-19980116-DM01.htm.

I would still keep one (1) MX record pointing to the IP address of our IMail
server. IMail would receive the mail and then would use Store and Forward
to send it over to the hostname NEXUSTECHGROUP.DNSALIAS.COM. But since the
HOSTS file can't support the "host name" then I don't know go about
implementing this.
-

Do you think you might have some sort of workaround? Does anyone out there
how I might go about approximating my original idea for using Store and
Forward?

Thanks In Advance,
Dan Geiser <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
