Hardware/Software Environment:
Mail Server Dual 1.3 Ghz Pentium 4 Win2000 1 gig Physical Ram, 6X that in virutal memory allocated in the form of disk space reserved. Imail 8.01.

Problem Description:
After about a max of 70-80 inbound connections(sometimes less, sometimes more) to imail.stic.net from filter.stic.net. no more connections are allowed, not even using telnet to port 25 (see below). After speaking with IPSwitch Tech support, we discussed the setting in Imail for the number of SMTP processes. According to previous discussions with IPswitch Tech support, this setting has nothing to do with the inbound number of SMTP connections, but with the number of processes, processing mail already received. Which is it? We up the number to 75 from the 45 it was set at, with no discernable effect to our smtp connection testing. The problem needs a solution, we have been told that there is "no hardcoded limit" to the number of connections, and it's strictly related to physical resources on the machine. During our testing, the CPU's are typically 25% loaded, with plenty of actual Memory remaining, and the Virtual memory never increasing. When we put a UNIX server in front of our mail server, a much slower machine, less memory, it will receive more mail that Imail can, and Imail cannot keep up with the mail being relayed.
