IMail's  ODBCUSER.DLL  will try to update a user's row in the database
whenever  a  change  is  made  to  any  user-specific  settings (which
include, for example, the last login time for Web Messaging). You have
effectively disabled its ability to commit the update at the back end,
but  that  doesn't  stop the front end from behaving as if nothing has
changed.
