I've been a loyal iMail customer since about '96 or '97 and have upgraded to
EVERY release except 7.0 to 7.1. Each time the upgrade has gone fine, and
I've experienced no problems. This time it's a nightmare.

Before the upgrade, all was fine and dandy.
Upgraded to iMail 8.01 and KWM4
now iMap peggs the CPU for 5-10 mins when ever it's accessed
iWebMail seems to be pegging the CPU as well.

these are only TWO of the problems I've encountered so far. Here are other
problems:

My personal account has a very large mailbox, and many, many mailboxes. For
some reason, iMail started bouncing mail to me, saying that my mailbox was
over it's exceeded message count (allthough I have it mared as ZERO, which
SHOULD be unlimited). Odd thing is, it only bounces mail sent to a list that
I'm administrator of, and bounces mail sent to the "WEEKLY" folder that's
used for digests. I never recive the mail in my main account either tho.

iMail Administrator. - hangs when I attempt to open accounts with large
numbers of mailboxes. Total hang, I can wait for an hour and no-go.

KWM interface displays "welcome to KillerWebMail" at the bottom of the logon
screens, even if the news and welcome files are empty. Hello?!?!? The
reason I pay for KWM templates is to be able to customize them to make them
look like my own without someone elses branding on them.

I've de-fragged the hard drive. Doesn't help.
It's running on a 1.1ghz machine that USED TO not even break a sweat, now
it's getting CPU pegging all the time.
I'm running declude junkMail, i don't know if this may be causing a problem.

Subject: AW: [IMail Forum] IMAP Performance??

hi,

we use TWIG (twig.screwdriver.net) as webmail frontend; it connects via
IMAP4 and have additional features ala calendar, todo, addressbook (in mysql
db). we also have written a data-directory (personal file uploads) feature.
we have about 17000 mailboxes. over 1000 different active webmail users per
week.

but there are some problems when opening large IMAP folders (>3MB), then
IMAP sometimes consume 100% cpu for 3-8min.

regards
hannes

Most of our customers use the original Imail web frontend. There are
only some fanatic *nix guys they feel bether if their webmail is served
by their OS ;-)
Then there are this type of users who has used IMP on their old ISP and
don't want to "learn" how to use the new interface.

Around 20 users are using our IMAP-Service over IMP an we've never any
problem.
As I can remember the IMail Server 7.15 Patch covers some issues with
the IMAP service...
