I manage a server running Imail 8.01 and it hosts about 6 or 7 domains. The problem I am having now is that I add the domains into the whitelist area of IMAIL and the messages are still being blocked. How can I configure IMAIL to allow messages from abc.com to xyz.com to avoid any filtering since they are on the same server?
That's not a good thing to do.
The problem is that almost all spammers use return addresses that are not their own, so they can choose any address they like. Many of them realize that if they choose an address on the domain they are sending to, the E-mail will be more likely to be delivered. Let's say that only 15% of E-mail is sent this way. Now, instead of catching perhaps 97% of spam, you're down to catching 82% of spam. That's 6 times as much spam that will get through!
Also, note that if the E-mail gets caught as spam on your server, it is likely to get caught as spam on other servers -- so we recommend to our customers that the best thing to do is fix the problems in the E-mail that are getting it caught as spam.
If fixing the problems isn't an option, the next thing we recommend is whitelisting based on the IP addresses that your users may be sending mail from.
