Here is my situation: Symantec Antivirus Gateway 2.01 receives mail from the world at our DMZ. 63.119.95.133. It then relays all mail to Imail 8.01 for the duda.com (10.1.1.15), viera.com (10.1.1.16), and lists.duda.com (10.1.2.15) domains. I now have an exchange 2000 server sitting behind the Imail server which should receive all mail for accounts @duda.com that are not in Imail's database (using SQL 2000 as a user database). The exchange server will not be a redundant server store for Imail. It simply needs to get messages from Imail.
MX Records: IN MX 1 imail.duda.com IN MX 10 exchange1.duda.com Imail IN A 10.1.1.15 Exchange1 IN A 10.1.1.11 According to http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/guide/imailug801/Chapter%202%20config1 7.html or Chapter 20 Config Peering or IM-19980116-DM03. I have removed the localhost entry from Default Mail Host box on the SMTP general tab. I have also setup exchange1's IP (10.1.1.11) on the peer list for 10.1.1.15 in the virtual hosts config. Based off a post from Sandy on 2002-10-23 15:50 with subject; RE: [Imail Forum] Imail peering and Exchange, I modified the exchange HELO message to read: NT-ESMTP Server X1, restarted the SMTP service on the exchange server and restarted the services on Imail. At the moment there is only one user in my exchange store. [EMAIL PROTECTED] Here is the log entry I get when sending a message to him: 20030806 203216 127.0.0.1 SMTP (083C001E) ERR imail.duda.com not local user01 from <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 20030806 203216 127.0.0.1 SMTP (083C001E) Connect 10.1.1.11 [10.1.1.11:25] (0) 20030806 203216 127.0.0.1 SMTP (083C001E) 220 exchange1.duda.com A. I seem to believe it is. So my question is quit simply, have I simply forgot to do something or should I work at this from another angle. IE: Put the exchange server infront of Imail and pass the mail down? Any suggestions would be appriciated. Thank-you, Charles Cassagnol A. Duda & Sons, Inc.
