Let me amend that.

It appears that any message with ".com" in it, and that's quite a few, was being blocked.

Anybody know a work around for this?

Subject: [IMail Forum] File Attachment Filtering Rules Blocking Some Email With No Attachments

I've got Imail Server 7.06 and after this past week of lovely viruses I've decided to set up file attachment filtering.  After reading IM-20010822-DM01 and IM-20011207-DM01 I've got 8 rules to filter 8 file types and forward them to a user that will autoreply with a failed delivery message:

B~name=".*\.exe":bounce
B~name=".*\.com":bounce
B~name=".*\.bat":bounce
B~name=".*\.pif":bounce
B~name=".*\.scr":bounce
B~name=".*\.reg":bounce
B~name=".*\.vbs":bounce
B~name=".*\.shs":bounce

The rules do appear to be blocking the entire e-mails as you would expect, but some forwarded e-mails from Outlook and Outlook Express clients are being blocked even though they have no attachments.  Interestingly enough, e-mails forwarded from Eudora clients seem to go through fine.  Any idea why?

In the mean time I have temporarily disabled the rules due to complaints, but it's just a matter of ftping the rules.ima back up there.

Thanks for the help.
