We use Diskeeper 7.0. We have it setup for 12:00 midnight when the traffic should be less of an issue. I just checked all drives and they are in perfect condition. System drive had almost no fragmentation (as marked by red bars) and the spool and mailbox had very little and that is normal.
So I think it works fine by itself. The Set it and Forget it also is quite effective and probably not an issue as far as performance is issued. At least for us it is working perfectly without any starting or stopping of services. I would think so, just because how can you defrag something that has active writes/deletes constantly? I'd like to add something like that here, but I'd like the impact on service to be minimal.
