Responding to several questions:

Can Imail be run on Web edition? NO. Web edition can be used for web
services only. Imail is a program that is installed. It is not a web
application. Imail has a web application AS PART OF THE PROGRAM. It is not
separate in that you can not only have the Imail Web service running by it
self, It requires other Imail services. Now, if you wanted to use Windows
Server 2003 Web Edition as a front end web for Imail which is on another
server, that would be allowed.

Does Windows 2003 contain a complete mail server? Yes, in the most basic
form. It only offers the SMTP engine, POP3 capability and mail boxes.
Nothing else. No rules, no hooks, no AV scanning, no processing, no backups,
no spam scanning, etc.

How good is the IIS 6.0 SMTP engine? Very good. It is solid and have not
noticed any problems with it. Some have reported seeing volume of over
50,000 in a backup MX configuration without any hiccups.

Has any one used it? Yes, I have been using it since Beta2 with no problems.

Web edition includes a POP3 service, so why can not Imail be installed? The
Windows Server 2003 POP3 service is an extension of IIS 6.0, for which Web
Edition is designed to run and nothing else.
